Fixed issues:

1.      100% processor load by the avp.exe process if the current month does not include the date on which the task execution schedule is set (e.g., for the full scan task).

2.      Troubles when adding certain objects to a trusted zone.

Improvements:

1.      New operating systems existing on the market are now supported - Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008, Microsoft Windows Essential Business Server 2008, as well as an absolutely new Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system.

2.      The new antivirus kernel that Kaspersky Anti-Virus uses detects malicious programs more effectively.

3.      The RAM volume used by anti-virus kernel is considerably decreased.

4.      A new heuristic analyzer has been implemented, providing more accurate detection and blocking of previously unknown malicious programs. If a program's signature has not been found in anti-virus databases, the heuristic analyzer simulates the launch of the program in an isolated virtual environment. This method is secure and allows for analyzing all of the effects of a program before it runs in a real environment.

5.      The update procedure for the application has been improved. The computer now rarely needs to be restarted.

6.      The Rescue Disk creation service has been improved. It should be used when the infection is at such level that it is impossible to disinfect the computer using anti-virus applications or malware removal utilities run under the operating system. In this case, a higher degree of efficiency of the disinfection is achieved since malware programs do not gain control when the operating system is being loaded.

7.      The interface makes the features of the program simple and easy to access.

8.      The interface has been redesigned with regard to the needs of administrators of small to midsized networks as well as administrators of large corporate networks.

9.      Management of the application when installed on a remote computer has been improved (policy structure has been redesigned).

10.    A feature has been added that enables remote installation of the application with the latest version of the application databases.

11.    A feature has been added that allows to use an existing application configuration file when creating a policy.

12.    One more feature has been implemented that allows to disable temporarily policy actions and group tasks for client computers with the application installed (after entering the correct password).

Changes:

1.     The Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 operating system is no longer supported.

Known issues:

1.      In some cases, the computer may slow down when updating the databases.

2.      The time of starting scheduled tasks may be shifted if the Administration Server and the client are located in different time zones.

3.      In some cases, a group task error is returned with a long code line without explaining causes.

4.    In some cases, self-defense does not work under Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system.

5.    In some cases, the user attempting to upload infected file to the server is not blocked.

6.    In some cases, recording information about events into Kaspersky Event Log may start after a delay of 10-20 minutes upon configuring.

Errors fixed:

1.  Hard drive boot sectors are not scanned: šif option "drive boot sectors" is selected as the object to be scanned only removable drives' sectors are scanned. If the entire hard drive is selected, the boot sector is not scanned either.

2. Loss or corruption of the password in the application's policy in case of working in MMC under a non-superuser account.

3. Events are received repeatedly after restarting of Kaspersky Administration Kit with application's self-protection enabled.

4. Traffic management was removed from the application's settings.

Known problems:

1.       Disinfection of e-mail databases in pst format attached to a message is not supported.

2.     After work in the advanced disinfection mode to prevent an active infection, links to deleted infected files may remain in the registry in some cases.

3.     Application of defined settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer functions incorrectly if different proxy servers are specified for various protocols. š

4.     When upgrading the application from version 5.0 to version 6.0, the operation of importing Quarantine objects can take a long time in case if Quarantine contains a large number of objects. šYou are advised to wait until the end of operation, without interrupting Setup Wizard.

5.     Upgrade from the previous versions till version 6.0 using Group Policy Object (GPO) is not supported for the applications installed on Microsoft Windows 2000.

6.     It is necessary to exit Administration Console before upgrading Kaspersky Administration Kit Console Plugin.

7.    Copying of a large number of files within the network causes Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Microsoft Explorer to freeze if Kaspersky Anti-Virus is running under Microsoft Windows Vista. šThis error is caused by a Microsoft Windows Vista error.

8.     When configuring the list of the update sources using the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers MP3 administration plug-in it is possible to change the priority of the update sources "Kaspersky Lab's update servers" and "Kaspersky Administration Kit Administration Server".šš Earlier versions of the application do not support this function. This limitation relates to configuring the update settings in the policies, groups and local tasks via the Administration Server's console.
