Improvements:

1.     Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP4 can be installed both under conventional operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, and under the brand-new operating system Microsoft Windows 7 in various versions (Pro,Enterprise,Ultimate). Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP4 is certified by Microsoft for using under Windows 7 OS.

2. The new antivirus kernel that Kaspersky Anti-Virus uses detects malicious programs more effectively.

3. The RAM volume used by anti-virus kernel is considerably decreased.

4. A new heuristic analyzer has been implemented, providing more accurate detection and blocking of previously unknown malicious programs. If a program's signature has not been found in anti-virus databases, the heuristic analyzer simulates the launch of the program in an isolated virtual environment. This method is secure and allows for analyzing all of the effects of a program before it runs in a real environment.

5. The new Access Control component monitors users' access to external I/O devices, enabling administrators to restrict access to external USB drives, multimedia devices, and other data storage devices.

6. Significant improvements have been made to the Firewall component (the overall effectiveness of the component has been improved and IPv6 support has been added) and Proactive Defense (the list of events processed by the component has been expanded).

7. The ability to scan ICQ and MSN traffic has been added, which ensures the safe use of IM clients.

8. The update procedure for the application has been improved. The computer now rarely needs to be restarted.

9. The Rescue Disk creation service has been improved. It should be used when the infection is at such level that it is impossible to disinfect the computer using anti-virus applications or malware removal utilities run under the operating system. In this case, a higher degree of efficiency of the disinfection is achieved since malware programs do not gain control when the operating system is being loaded.

Known issues:

1. In some cases, the computer may slow down when updating the databases.

2. If an ICQ/MSN client had been launched before Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been started, you should restart the client to scan messages for viruses.

3. The time of starting scheduled tasks may be shifted if the Administration Server and the client are located in different time zones.

4.      Incompatibility between Kaspersky Anti-Virus and ASUS Data Security Manager application. Unstalling Kaspersky Anti-Virus on a computer with ASUS Data Security Manager already installed on it leads to freezing the operating system.

5. In some cases, a group task error is returned with a long code line without explaining causes.

6. Anti-Hacker does not detect all available ICMPv6 zones.

7. Anti-Hacker does not block all outgoing IP/ICMP packets, regardless of the rules.

8. The Show "Protected by Kaspersky Lab" on Microsoft Windows logon screen option is not available under Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7.

9. Phishing email messages are not marked as spam when working under Microsoft Windows 7, having disabled Traffic Monitor.

10. In some cases, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 may freeze (if SP1 for Microsoft Office has not been installed) when spam messages are received via the IMAP protocol.

11. Information about the same event may be displayed in different reports with different values of risk factor.

12. In some cases, recording information about events into Kaspersky Event Log may start after a delay of 10-20 minutes upon configuring.

13. On a computer with the Microsoft KB969907 update installed, Mail Dispatcher displays only one item in the list of unread messages, when several new messages are received by Microsoft Outlook or Windows Live mail via the POP3 protocol.

10. When configuring the list of the update sources using the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations MP3 administration plug-in it is possible to change the priority of the update sources "Kaspersky Lab's update servers" and "Kaspersky Administration Kit Administration Server". Earlier versions of the application do not support this function. This limitation relates to configuring the update settings in the policies, groups and local tasks via the Administration Server's console.
