Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS
Version 6.0.4.1212 MP4 Release date: 23.09.2009
Fixed issues:
1. 100% processor load by the avp.exe process if the current month does not include the date on which the task execution schedule is set (e.g., for the full scan task).
2. Troubles when adding certain objects to a trusted zone.
Improvements:
1. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 Second Opinion Solution MP4 can be installed both under conventional operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, and under the brand-new operating system Microsoft Windows 7 in various versions (Pro,Enterprise,Ultimate).
2. The new antivirus kernel that Kaspersky Anti-Virus uses detects malicious programs more effectively.
3. The RAM volume used by anti-virus kernel is considerably decreased.
4. A new heuristic analyzer has been implemented, providing more accurate detection and blocking of previously unknown malicious programs. If a program's signature has not been found in anti-virus databases, the heuristic analyzer simulates the launch of the program in an isolated virtual environment. This method is secure and allows for analyzing all of the effects of a program before it runs in a real environment.
5. The interface makes the features of the program simple and easy to access.
6. Management of the application when installed on a remote computer has been improved (policy structure has been redesigned).
7. A feature has been added that enables remote installation of the application with the latest version of the application databases.
8. A feature has been added that allows to use an existing application configuration file when creating a policy.
9. One more feature has been implemented that allows to disable temporarily policy actions and group tasks for client computers with the application installed (after entering the correct password).
Changes:
1. The following operating systems are no longer supported: Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows ME, Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0.
Known issues:
1. The application cannot disinfect files, blocked by OS or by other applications, during OS reboot.
2. The time of starting scheduled tasks may be shifted if the Administration Server and the client are located in different time zones.
3. In some cases, a group task error is returned with a long code line without explaining causes.
4. In some cases, recording information about events into Kaspersky Event Log may start after a delay of 10-20 minutes upon configuring.

Build 6.0.3.818 Release date: 10.09.2007
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS is a part of a group of Windows-based applications designed for business users. It is recommended for use on workstations on which fully functional anti-virus software by other vendors has been installed. This application does not contain components providing real-time protection which allows to avoid conflicts when it is running along with the main anti-virus software. Kaspersky Lab does not recommend to use Kaspersky Anti-Virus SOS 6.0 as the exclusive anti-virus tool in your system as it does not ensure full protection against malware.
Peculiarities of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS operation
on workstations with other vendor's anti-virus software installed:
If the main anti-virus application running in the real-time protection mode detected an infected file and blocked access to it, then the following will be performed by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS when it starts a full computer scan task:
1. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS will attempt to open the infected file in order to scan it.
2. The real-time protection mode of the main anti-virus application will block access to the infected file. Therefore Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS will not be able to open it.
3. A message informing that access to this file is blocked will be displayed in the report.
As the result of a formal comparison of the results of the scan performed by two anti-virus applications - the main application and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS - the user may get the wrong impression that Kaspersky Lab's product was unable to detect viruses which had been detected by the main anti-virus application. It is, however, incorrect. In order to ensure the correct comparison of the operation of the two anti-virus applications, the real-time protection function of the main anti-virus application must be disabled during the operation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS correctly processes infected files that had not been detected by the main anti-virus application.
